When we allow people to love us -
and return the love - we are giving them the privilege of being a witness to our life. I have felt that very strongly over the past 2 months as I've sat in churches for the funeral services of  3 cherished friends. I felt privileged to have been a witness to their life and their love.

That was beautiful Cynthia!
And the idea of a witness to your life is powerful, I believe. I remember reading something about a sister-bond and that sisters are each other's witness' to their childhood. There are those special people that we have loved and lost who knew things about us that no one else could possibly have known or shared in the same way. And yes, I agree, after they leave us forever that part of us is gone forever. It's another aching pain we feel from loving and sharing and ultimately losing. And it makes us all the more real...scarred but human.
