bear grease.

Well I would imagine anyone who had been sicky would look a bit pale and not too sweet
smelling unless one likes that sort of smell. You must have been a right handsome sexy young man to be able to pull birds like you did. What deodorant did you use, or aftershave? Although it appears that most of these dames, would have preferred bear grease.

Just to clarify for understanding as I read along this very interesting series, you did say that you have never had a really long-term relationship, married, that kind of thing, didn't you? I'm thinking I remember you saying that in a comment or something and didn't want misinformation to color my perception of events as they are occurring here.
