I hear you. I have an AARP suplemental policy which cost me $200 per month and of course you pay for your medicare. One of the medications I am on I have to go to the doctor monthly so I need the extra help but it is outrageous.

Re:

doesnt sound good. This is the first year I had to pay for my insurance and I have been retired for 6 years

Well they sure arn't doing it free. We have the NHS here. if one needs a knee transplant there probably is a three months wait. If one wants it next week just pay upfront same surgeon, but in his spare time presumably.

Re:

she should get on one and if she is low income they will probably supplement it

I know what you mean.  My mom was that way when she retired.  Now she is having lots of problems and hospitalizations but she didn't opt in for any of the supplements so she is paying a lot.

At thirty years of age, I am not on Medicare. Everyone I know who is on Medicare relates to what you have written with the costs.

Sounds like Australia where you pay extra at tax time for medicare but the dr. then charges you more than the set Gov. levee each visit. Then if you have private that is about $150.00 a month for private care for big problems.

Here is is all free or seems to be but the province is broke because of paying for everyone's health care and now more taxes are going on everyone. Sigh.
