I love Lilacs - the flowers are pretty, the scent is amazing, and they're strong (I also have brown thumbs, so I love anything that can flourish without much help!)

You can do it, I just know. The color which is definitely "you", will encourage you to baby it until it takes off.

We have several lilac bushes in our yard as well. They are quite beautiful, and really liven up the whole property when in full bloom. I hope yours takes . . .

There is a beautiful bi-color one at the gate to the campground where we have a fifth-wheel in Cloudcroft, NM....the owner says his mother started it from a bush from her family home.  It is dark and light blended in all these heavy drooping flowers and just breathtaking.  Mama always said she would get a start.....I am going to do it the first time I go up there....I really want to get one of those bushes started here at this house.

It is a lovely plant. Those blossoms are wonderful and I know how great they smell. I have never grown one. I know nothing about them but my Mother did and I think Taps is right near the other plant you can find roots and transplant them. Good luck.

I don't think you can start them from clippings.  You have to get a piece of the root.  That's not hard to do as the roots spread out from the plants and make little ones.

I love lilacs.  They smell so good, and they make wonderful boquets for indoors.

lilac bushes are awesome.  We had one in front of the house and would cut some from time to time for our teachers
