Interesting communication between Krisles and yourself, not really the place for a guy who quit school in the 8th grade and left to help feed the rest of the family as we all did except my sister Eileen.
She out of the eight kids, became a nun and studied at Gonzaga ? University and became a high school teacher. One of her students was Kim Campbell Canada's only female Prime Minister.
Eileen inspired me somewhat.
Eventually I went back to school at night, completed High School and took one year of psychology at York Distance Ed, passed and then quit.
So maybe it was alright to spend time with Academe and fly here.

Well, I have to say much of that was spot on. The liberals have taken over higher
learning, with their over political correctness, radicalism...that for the most part
seemed to have started in the hippie era.... As for the bonus, we are going to the
other side of the spectrum now. I partly agree with Adohr, there may have been
something left out of the ''bonus.'' I think it's simple, take religion out of public
schools. Problem solved.

And, yes, it was part of foreign language week.....but, here's another symptom of the problem.....the whole point of the pledge is to unite all these people, in all these states, as one .....under one flag and with with one language...it's an important statement not to be messed with. Maintain cultural heritage at home and in neighborhoods, that's beautiful ....but we are an English speaking nation....period.

Yes, you did pack that parachute and I felt a bit guilty for going off like that but I come from a family of educators and was raised with, dare I say, a reverence for education in all forms. I think it is an awesome responsibility for all involved and makes all the difference in a society.....and the state of it here from home through higher concerns me. I'm heartened to hear from you there is some hope.

the way i view it is we should never leave the teaching of our children up to others, teachers, schools, universities, we should be instilling in them confidence, teaching them how to march to their own drummer. and as far as the muslims are concerned we should be closing our usa door to them.

I read this - but wasn't it part of a foreign language week, and the pledge had been read in different languages each day but hit a snag when it was done in Arabic? They didn't think this through - some of those kids could have family over there fighting...

Like you, I feel that the academic ideal has not completely dried up, although we could find ourselves...Every time I think that I have seen it all...

I'm scared! I really am! Is there any chance that logic, decency and common sense will prevail in this case?
