Another example of much needed debate being stifled. I wonder what, if anything, is happening at my alma mater of Loyola College on the subject of the criticism of Islam.

Well....what can I say but that my heart breaks for you if you still hold onto any vestiage of belief that universities still operate with the idealistic open minded, truly intellectual freedom that you paint. I can't speak to anywhere else in the world but I don't know of many (I can't think of any at the moment but I'm trying to be fair and surely there are a few) campuses of higher learning here in the States that haven't been breeding grounds...no let me say a camp grounds for liberal-minded professors who have grown increasingly intolerant of, and downright hostile to, conservative views and focus on breeding followers. I mean it started right around the time of Viet Nam and has grown in leaps and bounds to the point that I don't know that I want any of my grandchildren even going to college unless it is a specific requirement for a stated career goal - like Jaden wanting to be a doctor. There is no intellectual debate to let students exercise and develop rational decision making by listening to scholars from different schools of thought....there is hammering and hammering of liberalism. It is, IMHO, a huge component of what is wrong....we don't have thinkers coming out of our universities....we have robots, brainwashed by tenured robots....and it pisses me off!! I love the picture you paint of what education should be....but, Obama's audience doesn't recognize his hotshot PR grabbing misuse of trigger words like slander when they hear it because it is par for the courrse of what passes for lectures they've heard in courses in universities ....and it passes for nightly news. Oops.....sorry, soap box sliding back in. (speaking of triggers
)

And I get two for one, able to read both posts, one after the other. It does blow my mind that the 'leaders' (Obama included) are more than aware of what is going on, what the religion is, and yet tell us to ignore it. I still can't figure out if they are stupid (nearly impossible), think they'll get power and wealth from it (sell-out?), are frightened (cop out?) or if they've embraced the Muslin faith personally. Whatever their reasoning, you know how it is when we tell people to not talk about something....that actually starts the ball rolling.
