Yes, and instead of a parent, you're going to get bureaucracy.

Exactly, Ifyou-please!

You stated taht very well, and I agree.  What is even more frightening is that we are, as a society, beginning to expect our government to be our parent as well.

I have arrived at the conclusion that these kinds of religions stem from
the desire to remain an infant, with an all caring, all powerful parent who meets every need and who is capable of doing everything for us.  This is a subconcious desire, and any fundamentalist that you told this to would naturally be insulted and answer you with scripture.  When we meet with disappointment as God does not answer our every prayer as we might wish, we then explain to ourselves that God Almighty knows best, and his answer is according to wisdom.  When someone dies, we tell ourselves that they are with God now, etc.  It all seems to be a way of avoiding reality, raising our own children only until they are grown, and accepting that we must make decisions in this world to the best of our ability, using our minds to sort out the difficulties.  The loving parent is the love we share with each other, for as long as our own loving parent is gone, there is no other replacement but our own effort at bringing love into the world we live in.
