Re: cct
last year i had 6 martin families, this year i only have 4, but it could be some went looking for a new home since they were here before i got the house up. we get less and less wildlife and insects because of the hybrids and gmo's and insecticides. we will eventually manage to kill everything including ourselves.

Re: kabu
they say the same martins come back year after year and their offspring too, so you have the same family members all the time. once in a while i cut a rug.

Re: adnohr
yes about the brood, the bees are so interesting. nothing better than babies, watched a man go and pick up a baby chick at the feed store and he carried it over to a mother holding her baby, the babies eyes got so big and she looked as if she wanted to put it into her mouth, lol, how precious was that.

Re: annicita
martins are really special birds, they advise to put martin house close to where people will be as martins like people, it does not bother them if you check on their nests and babies.

Best wishes to you as well. And I envy your nurse Sara. I wish I could find a way to smile 'all the time' . . .

I wish I had Martins , we hardly ever see Swallows or Martins like we used to. The cuckoo has been strangely absent recently , but I don't miss that one because it tips the other little birds out of the nest after it grows a bit. I do wonder what you will do if Queen bee is missing. Would the hive accept a new Queen, perhaps someone would know on the net.

Yay for the girl!! Love babies!! The martins will be happy - and anyone who smiles and means it is great to have around. If you found the brood it means the Queen is still around, right?
