My guess is that it happened when the bureaucracies at the megastores became widespread.

You are right! The impression of how a person leaves a store is as important then the one they got when they went into the store.  My Dad would have loved someone like you working with him.  He was an JC Penny man.

It seems to me the more willing someone is, the easier it makes life for those a grade above. I don't really know if you are appreciated, but you should feel proud of yourself for making the effort.

Don't worry about what others do or think. Reliability will always be an asset, something it seems that tends to be lost on this generation. As the song goes: "When you've got a job to do, you've got to do it well . . . " Hopefully someone will figure out the proper schedules and hours very soon . . .

They never change and I really hate having to say No to the person asking me at the check out. I know they are in trouble for not getting me signed up...I also hate being asked for a donation to a charity. In a days shopping at fdifferent stores one can lose $10.00 or more that way.

Big chain stores have no idea how to treat anyone.
