I don't have too much knowledge regarding religion. I agree with you when
mentioning your Muslim friend, that they are not all bad.

Well it seems dreadful destroying old monuments, perhaps better than destroying life.Who knows.

As a whole, this matter is for the real thinkers of the world, most people have trouble keeping peace in their own communities much less the world. Although it is a real problem. So far without a real answer. I wish to return to bliss. To enjoy porch swings and the smell of coffee and breakfast in the morning. I hope you have an answer to this problem.

I agree with you that the Sunni-Shia chasm does not hurt us. From the looks of things, we are going to get hit very hard at some point by a tidal wave.

I don't know whether the destruction of religious relics is heresy or not,
but it is certainly an insult to society, a blatant denial of history, and at the very least, barbaric. What joy those artists felt whose hands were inspired by religious fervor, or a belief in the divine. Whether you and I believe it was divine inspiration, it was art and beauty and what these destroyers have done is just one more crime against humanity on their long list of intolerable provocations.

I intend to live my life normally, for me ... to live in fear continuously is to give those that would do me harm power. I won't give them the power to hold me in fear... and I am not sure that writing about the same thing year in and year out is doing anything but anesthetizing the public...

And it will continue to arise no matter what others try to do, I am afraid. But, we must continue to stand against it anyway.
