I saw a video the other night on fb about a neighboring galaxy...it was awesome!

Oh, you've got to sit down with Neil DeGrasse Tyson some time.

This blog sounds as happy as he does when he gets going on explanations like this, most of which zoom right past my blonde roots, but I still love to think about these magical ideas. (I know it's not magic, it's physics.) On a related note, I've met people whose minds are like black holes, sucky and never releasing any light.

It is so neat what is out there in our vast universe. And to think, we only know a tip of the iceberg if that.

I have heard and read about these before, and their magnitude is difficult to wrap one's head around! I believe it's only a matter of time before we're sucked into one, and then . . .

Well Naut, I am glad that the black hole is more than a bus ride away in universe terms.

I am sure in time perhaps in a marathon run to the sun space-wise, we shall be clobbered. A good job there are men like you to source information. Most of us still believe the moon is made of cheese.

Nautikos

I haven't even had my first cup of coffee yet and you're talking that talk again....the kind that makes my head hurt! Won't you please turn out the light and roll over so I can get just a few more minutes of sleep?!  I don't know why you can't get it through your head that THEY are always going to be getting excited about this stuff and making a big to-do because they keep getting ahead of themselves with a bunch of guesses, er, theories, and then later....when they have the equipment to maybe actually come up with a better guess, er, theory about the old....well....anyway....  Yes, fascinating stuff, black hole....billions of years.....

When I was a very young kid someone told me to think about the concept that if there were no such thing as gravity I could take a rock and pitch it up and it would never stop going.  I took that to heart and would sneak out of our house at night and lie on a blanket under the stars, staring up at that vastness.....that was all I ever needed to know.  Now, back to sleep.
