Well, regardless of the locale, I would say double-dating first might be a good idea. This way, there's someone else there to keep things from getting too tense . . .

A cup of coffee Bill and then see if you feel the same afterwards. ' I would love to buy you a cup of coffee.' If she agrees it looks good, if she says no thanks , it means she does not want to be friends, if she says not today she might be heading for the toilet and then you could try again at a later date.
