I wonder if maybe Pat could be right, Naut? That he would be more likely to pay attention and to answer if you did the one scholar to another thing, at the same time getting your points across?

It seems to me your letter is way too confrontational and accusatory to

engender a thoughtful response. If, instead of flat-out statements you frame your points as academic questions, one scholar to another, there's a possibility of dialogue. Your research in this matter may be absolutely solid. Your position may be valid. But there's a lot of material there - and most people have a short attention span. I'm not saying don't send it, I'm suggesting an articulate writer such as yourself might be more persuasive with just one or two items from your menu, couched in non-confrontational terms. ♥
