I didn't watch the oscars. Can't stand all the hype and soooo long...just read the winners this morning with mild interest.

I agree that those awards ( all awards ) are really just based on one small group of people's opinions. But to be perfectly honest, I haven't cared about the Academy Awards since the '70's ( when movies were still good ). Since then, there have been dozens of so-called Academy Award winners that I've never seen, and still have no desire to see. I'll take an old Humphrey Bogart or Jimmy Cagney movie over today's crap any day . . .

A very interesting read. I myself am not into the award shows because they are cookie cutter, and at the end of the day, it is all personal taste.

Well I can't add anything to this because I believe you are right. Just a bit of advice this site really needs folk to comment occasionally on other blogs , I know it is ridiculous, but this is how it has evolved. So many come on here full of hope and then find it tough going because they do not just put a thumbs up on another's work. It is like reading your students essays and not commenting. Good luck.
