Hmm...I told you on a comment this morning I would come back to this post.

I respect your opinions. I think there's a few radicals in every form of religion.

Oh, yes, it can be very tough come up with definitions and differences. I feel that you do a fine job at explaining them.

Don't beat yourself up for posting this. You can share whatever you'd like. For the most part, I agree with what you've said. However, over the years, I've grown to learn that 'organized religion' was probably the worst thing to ever happen to Mankind. Not anyone's beliefs, mind you. People can believe whatever they wish ( hey, there are people who believe in Bigfoot, UFO's, the Loch Ness Monster and the Easter Bunny! Whatever . . . ). But it's when these people get 'organized' and start to think that what they believe is absolutely right, and everyone else is absolutely wrong, that things get out-of-hand! Yes, it's tough to explain the world to anyone else these days . . .

Re: Nautikos

Oh, boy....I knew I made a mistake when I posted this!  I know that intellectually, factually, in every way that makes sense to folks who speak this language....you can educate me on all that until you are blue in the face, sweet man....I'm just telling you that I had to find a way to distill all the back and forth that is out there into a very, very general overview of why there's this big argument that's it's Islam but not Islam, radical or moderate, etc.  I am not trying for one single moment to pretend that it is in any way exact and I know that drives you crazy....I don't want exact, I want simple...I know the Koran and the Bible are in no way alike....it is the CONCEPT that a religion can have adherents who read the same texts, etc.....well, no matter....my mind is weird, told you that....but, trust me, more posts won't change it!  You'll just have to deal with it!

Okay! However, there are fundamental differences between 'fundamentalist' Christians and 'fundamentalist' Muslims - as indeed there are fundamental differences between the very spirit of the New Testament and the Koran. On the surface, there are similarities between the Old Testament and the Koran - and yet they're worlds apart as well! We need to keep in mind that much of the stuff in the Koran was taken more or less literally from Zoroastrian, Judaic and Christian sources...

I'd better quit before this turns into a post, LOL. But maybe I should do some posts on this topic, though it is an issue I have addressed in the past...

Then dear friend, there are folks like me who believe in  God of my understanding and that a man named Jesus walked upon the earth to bring a new commandment. One of love. If you have love you will have peace, harmony and  none of the seven deadly sins.

I don't belong in a Church...found that out years ago, but I worship each and every day,
