That's a huge can of worms you're opening there, and I believe I have already done several blogs on just that topic! Being a 'Free-Thinking Non-Conformist,' I despise political correctness, and now go out of my way to refute it. I never understood why it would now take seven syllables to say something you can say in one! You were born in this country, raised in this country, work in this country, follow the laws of this country, pay taxes in this country . . . you're an American, plain and simple. We all came from somewhere else! Besides, if I started a campaign to change 'white' to 'European American,' I'd be laughed at! Stick to your guns . . .

I think its best to let people to describe themselves as they please, but a bit immature to get offended by every little percieved offence. When we were young, it was Black, then African American as they were slave decendance. Now people of color. It does not matter to me. But have family that choose to call themselves anything they want. That is not offensive to me either. As long as I am not on strict rules on how to refer to a stranger whom I don't know how to describe them. Either way, immature to care what people choose to say.

Great Post and is one reason I love my home...one of a long list....No PC here. Wiley and I relax and if we want to call a spade a shovel. then we do.
Anyway I am so confused....I thought it was OK to say Colored until recently I heard that is offensive. Well I don't care about color or whatever, I care about people and animals.

Amen! I absolutely endorse everything you say here - I definitely could not have said it any better! I am sooo tired of all that PC crap - particularly since it is having disastrous consequences! It is a big reason why we're not speaking out against that most hateful and intolerant religio-political ideology whose 'warriors' are currently assailing us, at home as well as abroad...
