Re: cct
Hi Jean I suppose we are spoiled for choice, but I do walk round the supermarket feeling
no appitite for anything much. Well a bit of fruit and veg. Most comes from abroad at this time of year I expect the poor folk who harvest it cannot afford to eat the same quality.

one can have to much knowledge to enjoy what they are eating. everyone has noticed food doesnt taste like it use to. very little meat goes into my grocery cart and once again i will attempt to grow my own vegetables, i never have enough. i thought that was the most clever poem and clever little girl helen may to save face. i also thought it was interesting that you raised chickens, about the only meat i eat and if it is advertised, hormone and antibiotic free, doesnt mean they are not in the meat, maybe just not as much.

Good for you for altering your diet to include less meats and more veggies. And although that chicken might have been suffering ( are you sure it was a heart attack? ) I don't think I could have done that either! Yes, more fruits and vegetables . . .

I've found a brand of ground beef "Rain Crow Ranch" that is
strictly grass fed cattle, non GMO, no hormones, organic... Costs more than a good steak, but it tastes like beef did in the old days before big Agriculture started dosing the cows and modifying the feed. I turn it into meatloaf to stretch it to six meals.
I love the poem. Hope you had a pleasant nap.

Well they used to have too many shots in them for my liking FS, but we used to have some that had been lured into a barn and they were nearly unmarked.

Re:
Yes I know Kabu we have lost little treats due to the excess of everything. I always wanted the Parson's nose. As you know it contains an oil gland it is like a little willy the hen used to squeeze it with the beak and then oil the feathers. I don't know if the poor little chucks have one by the time they are nobbled.

I don't believe anything was mass produced when we were young and living on the farm. We grew or raised what would end up on the table. I never had to kill chickens, the boys did that, but I certainly cleaned my share. I don't remember reading your repeat - it brought a giggle!
