Two folks at the dog park , Whiley just barley over 500 words

Beanie tolerated the humans at the dog park for the most part.  I usually explained that he was a rescue.  And they would be extra careful to allow Beanie his space.  He loved to be chased and he was "is" a bullet.  Being chased his favorite thing to do.  The wind in his face and hair flowing back.  He could also turn on a dime, tricking the chaser into losing him.  Sometimes even going through the tunnels shaped like a bone that many could not even fit through.  The dog park became his element.  Especially, eventually, he and I walking the human park.  He remembered to go off trail when approaching corners when he could not see around and a possible threat was coming.  There were less and less threats.  He even knew when I was going to loosen the leash to let him leisurely sniff and smell the bushes and posts.  Around the pond with the waterfall in the middle.  The sounds and smell even relaxed me.  I would stop at the bench, have a sip of water and a cigarette.  He would jump right next to me.  When someone would pass I could feel his little warning growl.  They couldn't hear it, but I did.  We were going off trail less and less.  More of a very fast paced walk.  I was getting my very active minutes in according to fit bit.

As I previously said Beanie tolerated most humans, but there were a couple that were regulars in the park that surprised everyone. One was an older gentleman in the big dog park, he usually arrived around 7:30.  He has white hair and very tall with a Doberman.  Beanie would change suddenly, he was a different dog.  I was a bit jealous.  He acted as if this was a long lost family member.  Jumping up and down trying to get his attention.  He would make noises of complete recognition and joy.  Once is a fluke, twice a coincidence, three times obvious that he really wanted this man to show the love and he did.  He would rub his belly and make a fuss over beanie.  Was it the red jacket?  Was it the white hair.  It didn't matter.  He made a friend.  And when the Gentleman asked if he could take a picture of Beanie for his wife to see, I knew the human felt the same way.

There is another human in the little dog park.  Ella, she had just in the past couple of years immigrated from Russia.  She has a little dog who also was a rescue.  His name is Max.  Max had been in the news for having had teens staple his tail to his body and ears as well.  Tortured!  But Beanie always knew that by the time we got back to the park from our one on one walk, Ella would be there.  That same trust and recognition was there.  She would pick Beanie up and just love him.  Max wasn't all that happy about that.  Beanie even recognized her driving in her car.  We joke that they must have had a past life connection.

Things are never dull when pets are around...It is good that you have a support network within your family.
