Re:

Not at all, adnohr, not at all! Again, I believe most 'civilized' people do not go out of their way to degrade or insult their fellow human beings. But my whole point was that, I don't want anyone to feel insulted simply because I didn't get the latest notice about something else being changed yet again to fit the needs of such a small percentage of the population! Nobody wants to taste their own foot, and I'd be the first one to admit if I was the one who placed it in there! But when these groups say they're insulted because the rest of us aren't kowtowing to their needs, that's where I draw the line . . .

Re: Jimmy

Well that's a mouthful, Naut! There's only one flaw in your concept: we simply do not have the prison space to accommodate all of the offenders! I feel offended on a  daily basis, with everything I see, hear and read day after day after day! If I was one of those agents, there'd be nobody left on the streets . . .

Re:

But what about all the Joes already out there, C C T? Do you think they'd enjoy everyone stealing their name so that the entire population can become androgynous? How about Monty instead? At least then the minions can have a little fun . . .

Re: JimmyA

That's what I usually think as well, Sir Wiley. Sometimes people forget about those X and Y chromosomes. You can make all the exterior changes you'd like, and then call yourself anything you'd want. But in your genes, in your blood, in your 'interior,' a man is a man, and a woman is a woman! Don't try to confuse me just because you're confused . . .

Re:

To be honest, Kabu, I did have a small segment in this blog about that whole "Ms." concept, but deleted it. I didn't want to go in the 'wrong direction' with the point I was originally trying to make! I too have never used that honorific, as it never made any sense to me either! And I really don't think most people care about such titles anyway. Like I wrote, as long as you've got the person's name right, nothing else should matter! So, what is for dinner . . . ?

Re:

Unfortunately, FSI, we're very close to that point now! Why else are so many public figures constantly forced to apologize just for giving their opinion on someone or something? I don't exactly know where we're headed, but that tunnel looks awfully dark, with no light at its end . . .

Re: I can only say I am so thankful I have always known I was female,

I agree, Pat. I suppose I do fall into that category of thinking "Live and let live," and like I wrote, I can certainly show respect to anyone, regardless of their 'lifestyle.' And as far as men, women, and equality are concerned, that's not really the tangent I was going on about. It's this constant concept of various people and groups changing things to fit their own whims. Like I wrote, I consider myself to be a 'Free-Thinking Non-Conformist,' and I actually go out of my way not to be politically correct! It all "snapped" for me many years ago when a 'fat' woman in a letter-to-the-editor referred to herself as horizontally challenged! That did it for me! People can live their lives any way they wish, and I won't 'try' to make things any more difficult for them than they already are. But I am not going to try to keep up with these constant changes being made, just to appease less than 1% of the population! Someone has got to draw the line somewhere . . .

Re: JimmyA

Which, at this point, Bill, is apparently still up in the air! I'm not gonna even go into that particular subject! For now, I'll just stick with the ridiculous changes political correctness is forcing upon everyone . . .

Oh boy. I think I'm as politically uncorrect as one can get, although I call it 'foot in the mouth'. And I don't really lose sleep over it either. Is that bad?

Jimmy

There’s a very simple general solution to all of that! You know how the OIC folks want to criminalize criticism of Islam because it’s an offence to their tender sensibilities?

Let’s pass some stringent general Anti-Offence Laws and establish the appropriate mechanisms to enforce them! We need an A-O Ministry, of course, (or, in your case, a Dept. of A-O)  as well as special A-O agents who have the power to arrest offenders and bring them to justice at special A-O tribunals! And people have 24-hr access to special hotlines, so that anyone who feels offended by anyone or anything, for that matter, doesn’t have to suffer too long, knowing the offender will be punished…

Perhaps we could be called comrade. Or citizien. Some one has an idea and the minions try to make it successful. Of course we could all be called Joe.

I'm not into figuring anything else out except as God made 'em.

I agree with you James. When I send out a letter..less and less often... I just write the person's name...and I have Never accepted being called Ms. I have always thought that was stupid. I hate political correctness. I love courteousness so using vulgar hurtful language was never part of me but hey I am an Australian woman call me anything you like, just don't call me late for dinner. LOL.

At the rate in which things are going, we are going to reach a point where we cannot say or do anything.

I can only say I am so thankful I have always known I was female,

and was not confused about my sex, even though it was clear to me that the men in this society have (or at least had) more freedom to go, do, be where and what they want, and they make better money. It must be terrifying to be that different from the norm, and to fear derision and ridicule every day of your life. It's bad enough to be gay, and to try to hide that from unaccepting or potentially dangerous people, but to be trans-gender has got to be nothing but hard. As for 'fear of saying the wrong thing' to someone who may or may not be Mr. - if we make the mistake it's not the end of the world as long as we're kind and thoughtful if/when it happens. We're only human.
