Years ago, we had Chipper, a collie/golden retriever mix who got way too heavy during the years that Son #1 was in the Navy.  She was his dog and while he was gone the rest of us were not very good at exercising her on a regular basis.  I did pretty good spring, summer and fall, but I don't ever remember walking her in the winter.  I would just let her out to do her thing and back in.  I also fed her too much because what she was supposed to have never looked like enough for her.  I was so bad for her, but she loved me anyway.

Geez, what an adventure! My wife and I have cats, so our ordeal in getting them to the vets is somewhat different. One of the things my wife learned the hard way is, never go into the 'cat's room' in street clothes! I know that sounds strange but, 99.9% of the time, when we're 'hanging out' with the cats, we're in our relaxy clothes. The only time they would see my wife in jeans and a regular shirt is when one of them is going to the vets! Then all hell breaks loose! Have fun picking out your 'Florida wardrobe' . . .

What fun but you are making progress with the training and that is good. Wonder if Bliss has an allergy?? Graysome cannot eat tins of tuna or salmon

don't try on clothes, buy new when you get there. they are sure to be having sales.

It seems even dogs are becoming more difficult to handle. I suppose it has opened a new door for trainers. I can't remember any of my dogs doing anything much apart from going crazy when I said 'Rats'.  Perhaps the breeds have become more highly strung and of course cannot wander around like they used to do. It is so sad losing pets, I just can't hack it any more.

Krisles

Well, Cat Woman, I'm sure you'll get very attached to Susie in time and she to you, of course! She's clearly a handful though - transporting her seems to be more like dealing with a rhino than a doggie! I guess I'm lucky - Bennie sits in the passsenger seat next to me and looks at the world as it passes by. I even put the seatbelt on him (which I don't always do for myself, LOL), and when he gets tired he trundles over to the backseat and curls up...
