Modern medicine has done a lot over the years to insure that we have a great quality of life for a longer period of time...I enjoyed reading Fred and Dot's conversation.

Yes, it seems that many people's conversational skills have given way to the written word, which, I guess, they find easier. I suppose they figure their tongues would wear out faster than their fingertips! And I hope that woman's peppermint did help to flavor that tea, seeing how much 'trouble' she went through . . .

Re: adnohr
No I suppose you don't get the exercise now your poor doggies have gone to sleep.
Although I expect it feels like you do rushing off to work. I just don't know what to advise to get the ladies steamed up. It will be different in spring mark my words.

I guess they could be right, except to stay in shape physically many of us need to go to a gym, whereas back then we were more in shape just from everyday chores. Then again, it could be that w are not so tired at 80 now because there are less chores to do.
Yep, poor Fred shot down again, and it was such a pretty speech he did.

Re: Hello Justi
Yes Justi one has to be careful though when writing to neighbours.
I hope you feel better, perhaps it is writing these blogs that make us feel a little younger.

Re: I enjoy your posts so much, always something to set me thinking...
Well that's a relief Pat, I sometimes feel I am being a bit banal. The local streetlife blogging is a bit dull at present one man said he bought fish and chips for 12p in the old days.

Re: jeensaw
Crikey Make a list Jean I would like that bush in the centre of your garden, the one you grew from a little critter. I know there are a lot of old critters I should visit, but as my neighbour once said. .'Mary next door came snarling round,' he smiled. 'She said why are you snubbing me.? He looked thoughtful. ' I said I'm not snubbing you and I shut the door in her face.'

Re: Krisles
Yes I thought it was pushing it a bit. Some can feel pretty weary at twenty-six , but fortunately they can't remember.I don't like to see a baby drop a dummy in the high street and the mother stick it back in its mouth. Yes probably bugs are safer than chemicals. Seen any Aliens lately?

I'm afraid that is VERY wishful thinking, the 80 being the new 50....what's so wrong with 80 being 80? Quite honestly, I'm getting a little tired of everyone being anything but what they are because I think we're all pretty much okay just as we are.....but I was born with an old soul
Also, I don't think it's good to eat completely sanitary stuff all the time...got to keep a good supply of bugs in the system...remeber War of the Worlds?

I take it the olden days weren't very sanitary in your neck of the woods, LOL...And poor Fred - amother brush-off, and after all that poetic effort...

yes given cold shoulder again in the poem....and I like that the new 80 is the old 50, why when i reach tjhere i should have way more energy than I have now.
When I was a little girl and before the rural power I suspect we ate some pretty aweful meat..well I know we did. Mother used to make a currie mutton stew to use up the last of the meat that was ... Ugh I wouldn't eat it now.

Oh my goodness what a good post. The first part is very newsy, I loved that 80 is the new 50 I'll buy that. A neighborhood facebook is fun. You are so busy all the time you may get 80 down to 40. I was amazed at the poem all you thought of that was so great about the girl and she snubbed it.... so you don't want to bother with her. Loved reading this.
