Well, I tend not to use after-shave, as they usually have traces of alcohol in them, and that can really burn freshly-shaven skin! My shaving routine is vastly different from almost every guy I know. Everyone else seems to shower first, letting the hot water and steam make their beards rise better, and then shave! I'm the opposite. I always shave first ( using very hot water and a wash cloth ) and then shower! I find that the hot water and soap after the shave helps my skin considerably! Besides, I'm usually bleeding somewhere after each and every shave anyway, so the soap and water helps with that too!

Then I go get my chocolate sundae with whipped cream . . .

My mother died from Alzheimers...I know. Being a nurse, I cared for so many sufferers and loved them and cared for them...Strange then how I hated my Mother for leaving me in my thirties. That horrible woman was not my darling gentle Mother. Bless her soul, she has been gone for more than 20 years but it took me some years to forgive her for becoming what she couldn't help. Professionally I knew in every way that I was wrong...emotionally I had to let my grief take its time to heal. eventually I was able to laugh at enough of her funny moments of confusion and now I am free to love and remember my Mother.

I myself do not use aftershave because I do not like the scent of any of them, and I am not sure how others may take to a particular smell.

We have liquid fragrances at the car washes. Those do not agree with my nose either.

No I don't really like too much scent I don't think my shaving soap has any scent to it all, but it was giving to me by my sister with a shaving brush which was made of real badgers hair. The badgers here are a bit ropey some have TB. So I threw the brush away.I expect she saw it in a charity shop. I bought an imitation badger brush. Yes poor Mum, It is surprising the strength a little woman can muster. Once My Mum walked two miles at a terrific pace and she was well over 90. I had a job to keep up with her.

I love the way you write.  If I commented on every subject that you write about, my comment would be as long as your post.  Instead, I will just say that I love good smells on other people as they pass me by or give me a hug.  I cannot stand them on myself following me around everywhere, in which case, even if I liked the smell to begin with, I start to feel nauseous and must escape.
