Re: Re: Re: Perhaps an egg?
Not many Roosters running with laying hens these days Ciel. More likely the poor critters are being forced to lay with artificial lighting. Like the little dove that laid an egg last week in a winter nest, have not seen her since, I hope she is not laying another one.

That bit of blood simply means a rooster got to that hen before you did.

Re: TAps you were Lucky
Taps you were lucky as a youngster they nearly drove me mad, as soon as I sat by the fire in those days they would start and in bed it was miserable. I don't know if it was the lack of some vitamin in the war years, but I also had them on my ears.Of course I was outside all day long and wet through most of the time shoes had nails which must have conducted the cold and damp. Happy days.

Cheers FS. I expect you will get out the old pudding bowl and knock up a cake or two if you get snowed in.

Re: Taps
Taps I suppose it is better to stick to the trusted recipes, but if I had your Phil next door I am sure I would experiment more often.

Re: Perhaps an egg?
Be a bit sweet with golden syrup wouldn't it Ciel, Actually I fried two eggs for dinner, I grumbled at Arthur he slipped then into the pan with olive oil and both had a tiny streak of blood on them. I would have tossed them out, but put some butter in the pan and scraped the blood streaks off. Arthur laughed and said 'Well you take no notice of blood in a pork chop. I had to explain I visualized the hens straining to lay those eggs like they had piles. I have in the past spent hours candling eggs to remove any blood spots, they were not appreciated.

Re: Adnohr
That's the trouble with life Adnohr people expect too much. Now I would have dipped her feet in the chamber pot or rubbed them with onions. Not much of a cure though.
I am stll munching through treacle oat cake, not bad.

Re: Pat
I only assume dreams are the same as mine used to be, Pat. Well these wet winter days I like to plan something ahead, it gets one outside, although I have to shower afterwards it is usually messy. I prefer coconut Mam.

Re: Jimmy
I don't think is the granola that you imagine Jimmy though I don't know why they call it that.
This one has nuts and fruit and 40% oats, it is quite yummy. Ratty Arthur bought the last three bags of it and I only half half a bag left.

Hmmm . . . 'cheese' cookies made with oatmeal. There seems to be a certain amount of contradiction there, but apparently, the birds didn't mind! And granola is usually somewhat bland and tasteless, at least to me. I can't believe you ate enough to ruin your supper . . .

Such a frothy lad you are in a lady's romantic dream.
And so ambitious with all that planting. I have heard of shredding carrots into cookie batter in lieu of coconut, a sneaky way of getting kids to eat their vegetables.

Hmm - from that poem he was an ardent little bugger and when he didn't get his way he just skipped out....as far as recipes go, we are sometimes suprised how our meals turn out.

A delightful mix! Actually we call it dibber when it's a big deal, and supper when it's not - the thing you call tea, I think - anyway, it's the evening's repast...And I admire your courage - I cook, but I never bake...And yes, feet with chilblains would quickly chill my own ardor as well...

Perhaps an egg?
That would lighten in up a bit, maybe. I used to use brown sugar and white, 2 to 1, to make cookies chewier.
I once tried to make whipped cream that somehow turned into crackers.
