I guess it would depend on two things. First, how much money I actually have, and are willing to sink into this house. And two, am I planning on living in it myself, or reselling it? I believe this is what most people would have to consider . . .

Yes, I would, and in fact, I already did when I brought my grandmother's house after she passed. Her house had a major mold problem that had to be addressed, and once it was, that meant gutting the house.
