Strat....My Dear Little, Young, Young Bro
Once, on a roadtrip with my mom, we were having breakfast in a cafe in Trenton, NJ. We were eating pancakes and she said something in an uncharacteristically (at the time!) short manner, for which she apologized. I told her that over the years of talking to people on the phone I had developed a theory about why people often got less patient and got the reputation for being "curmudgeonly" and I asked her.......I said do you just get tired of being so dang nice to everyone all the time....having to please everyone, make everything work, get it all done for everyone?
I will never forget my mother who had branded me with the "don't make a scene, rock the boat, create discord, embarrass anyone" message....slammed the table with the palm of her hand and leaned forward, HISSING (there's no other word for it) "YES!"....dead silence surrounded us, no movement and there was so much tension in her neck as she made sure I understood.
So, welcome to the age of real freedom!

Well haven't we all changed since we first came onto this community stomping ground? This was such a fun well written piece. Love it.

At one time, I thought that only men were curmudgeonly, but in my years since, I have found some of the female sex (at least I think they were females--one never knows these days), and now and then I have curmudgeonly days myself. Fun read.

I don't know much about you Sir, so you can rant all you wish as long as it is done discretely . Or just wave your stick in a menacing fashion as long as you don't fall over.Happy New Year.

Actually it is no secret that I myself tried grown up somewhere in my forties when I thought it was time...didn't like it and as soonas the first Grandchild came along I reverted back to childhood. That is where I am staying only with betteer selective hearing
Happy New Year....
