I read of a student who had helped raise money to help students pay for their lunches.

Very nice sentiments, and yes, there are people out there who do try their best to help those less fortunate than themselves. But it does get harder and harder with each passing year! I hope you at least have a wonderful holiday week, and I'll take chocolate chip, thank you very much . . .

I'm right there with you, thinking of the children who are inundated with

a Christmas cheer throughout the community, that they will get no part of, and of their parents who feel it's all their fault that Santa doesn't know their kids.

No cookies ! Of course you don't live in a Work house Jean, you are as free as a bird.

You still have your lovely garden when the spring comes and you do not have the worry

of pleasing someone who did not appreciate you. You have some strong children and you can now fire from the hip. I cannot think of anything worse than being trapped in a loveless marriage and believe me many are. A younger woman we know  is living with a husband who wants a divorce, but it would mean giving up the house and both going into digs. Not much of a future there. I felt a bit sad today, but I think it is all these smiles that one has to contend with.Be Happy.

Hmnnn I can smell those cookies baking....I too am giving away posessions...I spent a lot of time getting rid of stuff from under my sisters house in Australia. giving to Nieces and my Son and etc. I too believe that the Christmas spirit is over come by commercialism and personal greed. Good post dear friend and Merry Christmas to you too.

I have spent the last 60 minutes reading traditional Christmas stories of kindness and love that show what Christmas is supposed to be. Your post fits right in with them...like a continuation of all it can be. Wonderful!

I wish that I could have some of those cookies. I imagine that they taste great.
