I think sadly it went too far the other way eventually encouraging some to indulge in what was meant to encourage. It will be a bit strange for you this year but better than

Well my brother Arthur says he never looks at the price, if he wants it he just buys it.
I always look first and love a bargain, although one rarely gets one.

Fabulous post....
There doesn't seem to be much left in the shops here...evidently they had such huge sales on the day after the USA Thanksgiving most of the stores have little to sell. It was frantic in Sydney but I shopped in Wagga and earlier in Canberra so have not got much to worry about. Just some fresh veggies for Christmas day really, Wiley already bought the meat.
Love the flower, it is a real mood lifter and of course the poem rivals Dickens for getting the sentiments right.

ARRRGH! I lost my comment! So here I go again...the poem is hard-hitting, CCT. I imagine those from the outside felt warm and righteous thinking that they had done something for the less fortunate, not realizing it was like rubbing salt into the wound. Ah well, sometimes it does work.

i could not decide if i lived in a work house or not so i read the poem, i will hold off a little longer to decide if i live in a work house. but i know what you mean about the holidays and shopping and will probably have something to say about it. i am not buying but giving my posessions away this year.
