Yes we have to treat the little blighters more carefully these days Ciel. All the nursery rhymes seem to have an element of darkness woven into them. I bet you never stood on a loaf after reading that.

Re:

No,no stop! I cannot stand all these lights glaring in my imagination. I am dimming you down to lights spaced strategically along your garden path. Oh! I mustn't be too cruel you can deck your Reindeer with coloured lights.

Re: CCT

Yes Naut I aways get grumbled at as the neighbors say they have to look a bleakness .

I do tell each one I cannot give them a prize as their display is so feeble.

CCT

Christmas lights - some people in our street are in competition with one another, others have none. I do like Krisles' exuberance, but all that is too much like work, quite apart frome the money involved, so we have what my LSW and I call a 'tasteful' display, LOL...

I love the lights at Christmas....in fact, if I were rich enough to be called eccentrict instead of crazy, I would keep lights up all year around!  I would have them outlining all the trees in my yard for sure.  And I have them strategically placed all around the house; they are in vases, on the mantle, in casserole dishes, planters....well, I'm sure you get the idea!!  I use strings of solid white, strings of solid red, strings of solid green...and I also have strings of multi-colored.....I am....as you can see....a light FREAK!!

Fairy tales once upon a time were bloody-minded, scary moral tales.

As a kid, I found Hans Christian Anderson dark and unsettling.  I still remember with kid-size horror, a little girl who wanted to keep her new shoes dry, so she used the loaf of bread which she was taking to her grandparents for their dinner, as a stepping stone in a puddle. When she put her foot on it, it sank down, down, down... to punish her selfishness. Still sinking, for all I know...

Most of the Christmas lights I see nowadays are white.
