I personally do not believe you can heal a sick man who abuses women by being nice to him. Santa is an innocent tale I believe. I knew a family who did tell their children when I was a child they were so sad that Santa was available to all but them.

Well I agree mostly and a man that threatens or is a bit rough with a women when courting will probably become much worse when married. We should have fairy tales that are true to life not read those that have been written when hardly anyone could read.

Re: JimmyA - tv's portrayal of bullying
Could not agree more, Jim. Bullies/cowards often hunt in packs or at least with backup. In my experience, the best way to stop aggression is to respond so fast and hard that he limps away in search of an easier target.

Well, count me among those who don't agree, LOL. I think women have enough sense to understand that tale for what it is - a fairytale! As for Santa Claus? Another bit of innocent magic that doesn't disturb me in the least, even though I no longer believe in it either...

Ya know, I tend to agree with everything you've written. Many of those fairy tales had skewed messages, but the children they were being told to just didn't have the intellectual prowess to challenge or dispute the 'actual' message. They just took the stories at face value. As far as women trying to 'convert' those bullies, I also have a grievance against those movies and/or TV shows that show some small, meek kid standing up to a bully, and the bully showing respect to that kid for standing up for himself, and then backing down. That's not how it works in the real world! No bully is going to let some little, four-eyed Poindexter get away with that, and will probably subject him to even more bullying! Let's see some Hollywood producer actually show that . . .
