Well Pat according to the blurb ordinary peanut butter is too salty for birds so this is nearly salt-less I might try your suggestion, but I don't want the starlings to be encouraged they go round in flocks and gobble everything up before the local birds get a look in.

I like the idea of dipping a popsicle stick to coat it with peanut butter
and then rolling it in sunflower seeds, standing the stick in a notch on the bird feeder so the little chirpers can belly up to the bar. It's time to get out the old box feeder and hang it, because very shortly there will be snow and no food available. I hate to see them go hungry.
