I know how you feel. When Hurricane Sandy deprived my wife and me of power two years ago, it was late October, and very cold outside. We survived the cold nights by boiling huge pots of water ( our stove is gas ) and planting them strategically around the house. It helped immensely. But we must stay warm! I hope that crocheted hat is mighty thick . . .

On a chilly day, I love my heavy bathrobe, and I love to bake. Yesterday it was another recipe of the pumpkin bread that is so good. Today I'm not baking--just eating pumpkin bread with my coffee.

Good News. The heating & AC guy came by, found the problem
and the furnace is working. Cozy enough to take off the crocheted hat and extra sweatshirt.. :)

Yikes! That's no fun at this time of year! We have a fireplace, but that certainly won't heat the whole house if the furnace were to conk out! A wood stove might be the answer - but in the end I'll probably just trust the domestic Lares to keep things in order, LOL...

Perhaps you should get a couple of hot water bottles Pat, they are very comforting and don't keep nudging one in the back.
