I guess I agree with JImmy, I laugh about my age to younger folks, I never ask anything of them. That way I once or twice a year get a nice surprise if they give my age a bit of respect.

I think I understand what you mean. Being called sir ( or ma'am ) is simply a sign of respect, but if it's overdone . . . And hey, look at it this way: I'd rather be called sir than a**hole!

Well young man I don't mind being called Sir. The last time an old gentleman called me (My boy) I was fifty. I never liked being called boy, or boylad, or youngmansir. When they call you Dad that really is a pain or Captain.
