Naut

Now you've opened the door to a discussion about why people believe that acquisition of knowledge must lead to an absence of faith. I think you can have the best of both worlds.

No, I don't think you'll find anyone to say you're wrong ( except maybe the Muslims themselves ). But there's probably a good reason why the phrase 'ignorance is bliss' was forged. The most content seem to be the morons amongst us . . .

Sometimes I feel we as humans are attracted to certain ideas and ideals.

Most of course are motivated by the need to advance at work or in a profession.

You I suspect Naut could have been the type of person who has made

discoveries, or still could as you dissect emotions to find the darkness in the soul.

We the average would be do gooders poddle along with our little secure and insecure  feelings shifting from emotion to emotion.

We may agree subconsciously with many things, but the pain of agreeing  to face reality

is too usually too daunting.

As always, very thought-provoking....knowledge is a very slippery thing, isn't it?  I mean, you seem to be speaking mainly of knowledge based on facts and those are not only so very hard to pin down, but change...shifting....regularly in some fields, every decade or so in others....but, point being, knowledge based on learning is a very fluid thing and I think that's what you're saying is so interesting to you.....not just learning new things, but constantly re-evaluating and re-considering positions you've taken in the past.

And, we all accumulate knowledge based on experience with each breath we take....at least those of us paying attention do.  And that knowledge changes and shifts regularly, too....and just like factual knowledge, is stored in our noggin to access ....or not.

Faith....when I think of faith it is an acknowledgement and acceptance within the soul of a diety or something outside of ourselves, regardless of how or if we've identified "it"....that's a knowing of the soul that we either acknowledge and connect with or we don't, whether we admit outloud which way we come down on the question or not...there is no grey in it.  It's all the side issues that are f'd up.

I admire lilfelong learners....I honestly can't comprehend not having a belief or acceptance of something larger than myself...but I have a complete acceptance and respect for the sincerity of your reality.

You do a great job at explaining why you speak out against Islam.
