Naut!!

5 minutes I've been back, and already you've got me totally absorbed. I must say, I agree with Jimmy about the difference between ignorance and stupidity, but would add that intentional ignorance also plays a major role. CCT touched on it briefly - they've actually done studies that show the majority of people would rather not know. If given the option of being fully informed or simply ignoring an issue altogether, they almost always chose to remain ignorant.

With issues like Obamacare, I can't help but wonder if the citizens were kept in the dark about the plans and led astray by scheming politicans, or if they chose not to do the research and learn the truth...?

I've always felt there was a big difference between ignorance and stupidity. If someone were to ask you to describe the inner workings of the Space Shuttle, something you may know absolutely nothing about, then you're simply 'ignorant' of that topic. But if you were to say that 2+2=5, then you're stupid! Sometimes, when it comes to this "Islamic problem," it's hard to say for certain where most people's minds are . . .

Sadly I don't think we as humans really want to know the truth about everything.

It is easier to think (maybe) and just potter along. Those who can break through the barrier maybe intellectual but it is not always the road to happiness.

I have found that, too, where a lie repeated enough becomes true. Thankfully, you are telling us the truth.

LIED TO

Uninformed, misinformed, lied to, led to believe, trusting, sorry, but some are just plain stupid. Let us not forget that the liars are the ones that are the most stupid. We will find out sooner or later...but we will find out !!!!!!!

Where was Obama's mother the night before he was born?

naut

i agree that people are not stupid, as least the majority are not, there might be some stupid people out there, but mostly i think they are uninformed or misinformed.  i do believe also that if you tell a lie long enough that people are likely to start believing it. i know this for a fact because for the last 50 years i believed lies that were told to me because i felt that i needed to believe them just to be accepted and not to rock the boat.  i think they call that group think. lately i just call it as i see it, and i see a lot more clearly.
