Thanks for your comment Pat! But I must point out that things have changed since WWII! According to the article, if he wants him the dog is now the soldier's, as per Clinton's law dating back to 2000, and this soldier clearly does! It appears to me some army types are in breach of the law!

This is how the government of the United States is working now, just wait a bit until you see what is coming. I have some friends who work in animal rescue very different from this but they howl loudly. This is horrible, totally unbelievable. I shall pray for this to be corrected. Prayer can be very powerful.

Since I read your post, I have been checkin around at other postings and articles about this. Hopefully all of these voices (including my own) will do some good.

To start a FB campaign, I need specific and verifiable information.
If you can provide links to the report and reporter, I could post that.

I've read stories like this from as far back as WWII. Once a dog is
taken into military training, it becomes inventory, part of the arsenal, to be assigned wherever the ranking folks in charge decide. The individual's rights and freedoms are subsumed into the bureaucratic maw, and love or bonding or the issue of right or wrong is no longer on the table. I hope someone with a little power decides to use it for good, to right this wrong. The only comfort I take from this is that hero and his dog will both go on to do great things, to live meaningful lives no matter where they're sent.

Thanks for bringing the story to light, Naut... That is terrible how that soldier's dog was taken away from him. I will be sure to do my part.

And I would join your campaign and would make a
%$#@&*% nuisance of myself until they threw me in jail...which they probably would do. I agree this is so so sad. Worse than sad, it is cruel and unusual behaviour. Surely they didn't send the doggie back over seas and cannot own up.
