Actually, this kind of thing (mutual attractions) are what livens up a place. Gives people something to wonder about, talk about, and it is pleasant to see a man and a woman of any age enjoying each other. It sounds like (at this time) the wife hasn't noticed or doesn't care. Perhaps she's pleased that his attention is elsewhere and leaving her alone for a bit.
