Great post! The best meteor showers that I have seen have always been under a Colorado sky up Ute Pass area.

Orion was big in the sky in our neck of the woods night before last
but I was fortunate enough to sleep through the wee hours and missed the meteor shower. I'm glad you got one bright star to wish upon.

First thing I look for on a clear night when back in Australia is my Southerm Cross and the Saucepan. Old friends indeed.

There have been many times when my wife and I hear of some 'cosmic event' that is only happening at some ungodly morning hour! So brave of you to don your winter things and take a chance, whether you actually got to see a 'show' or not . . .

Overcast here and the remnants of Gonzolla puffing and wheezing. I think I'll just have to imagine the scene. One night you might fall asleep in your chair so I would take a blanket.
