I don't really watch sports
So is it bad none of these names mean a thing to me?

One of the greatest . . . and funniest-sounding . . . names I ever heard was a hockey player the Rangers had for a while several years ago named Per Joos ( pronounced pear juice ). I believe he had a cousin named Tomato . . .

Great post. Yes, I have fun noticing the names of football and baseball players....especially when the playing is slow. LOL

Well Naut a village I once used to be familiar with had so many folk with the same surname that they were known with an appendage i.e. He belonged to the bag-ass Woolman's etc. Like your summary though.

Well I am from the South and until 30 or so years ago we had only a few names: Robert (Bob) James (Jim) or Sam, Paul, John, simple clear names. My father's name was great I thought: William Curtiss. We did not have many who wandered on down South.

There are some interesting names out there. Sports seem to draw them in.

Thank you Naut, for your astute comment on my Waitress in Training poem. I edited.
BTW did I ever tell you I rode the school bus with a family named Legg? There was Robert, Lola and little Harry.

I like the odd names in sports. Brings a little culture and flavor to
what could so easily be about as interesting as oatmeal. And while I'm a Cardinal fan, the San Francisco team played well and I'm content that Kansas City's the American League contender.
