Re: Jimmy

Wonderful.  Even if I don't do anything but get the juices flowing again, I will be happy for that.

I am! I am! Sometimes non-fiction is a little easier to produce, since much of it can come from various life-experiences. Write what's in your heart . . .

PS.  I love these story inspirations and am making note.

Re: Auntie Kabu

I would so love for you to meet him.  He is a great big marshmallow.  It looks like his trips to Ghents are coming to an end as he is getting a dedicated route near home in the next couple of weeks.  BUT we do need at some point (after the winter freeze) to make plans and make a visit...of course our home here in Michigan has an extra room as well.  Always open to family.

Re: FSI

LOL!  That's what scares me...that stamina thing.

Re: Pat

You should teach or do workshops.  Such wonderful advice that I will most appreciatively accept.  Thank you so much.

Re: C C T

I've actually had some good luck with articles and short non-fiction stories.  My first publication is in Chicken Soup For The Mother's Soul 2.  I'm pretty good with "short" the bigger projects scare me.  Thank you.

Re: Naut

I have no doubt many of those stories came from a dark November night.  Thank you.

Smal,l understandable words are the best. Do what you do best; write about family, bikes, love and loss... but make the characters fictitional in a make believe place....use things that you know and the words will flow...

So says Auntie Kabu who would love to meet this gentle giant you love so much.

I like the idea of you doing Nanowrimo. I wish you well in accomplishing your goal.

I do not do Nanowrimo. My novel writing stamina is not to that point.

Who else is listening to voices in their head? Everyone!

as for Nanowrimo - if you think of it as a novel, as 50,000 words - it may scare you into failure. Think of it as 1700 words a day - that's about 3 single-spaced pages.

Do not go back and edit (unless that's how you start up again after you've finished a day's writing) because that will slow you down. Read a paragraph or two so you can climb back on that train of thought, and then start the first sentence.

Recreate scenes; bits you're going to include in this project, things that were said and done, things you'd have said if you'd thought of them in time.  Have a general outline of who your "actors" are, spend time descriing the good guys and the bad guys. Keep a separate list of the names of your characters because from chapter 1 to chapter 10 you may misremember the names...

Before you know it, you'll have way more than 50K...

Well if you feel like doing it , why not. I hope it is not for the money. I don't think many are making much out of writing at the moment unless one is a so called celebrity.

You could post a bit on here first, but you will only get favorable reviews, promise.

Go for it! You have nothing to fear but fear itself! You've got good company here on Blogit - Pat has been doing it, and with great success! The excellent material she's posting right now was conceived some dark November night, I'm sure...
