Re: Re: Re:

Everyone needs a voice, Kabu, especially for the animals. Like I wrote, I knew something like this would get my wife upset as well. That's why I chose not to share it with her. She signs all sorts of petitions against these kinds of things, is very active with various animal rescue groups. Yes, it is upsetting, but in this particular case, we can at least hope that some justice will prevail . . .

Re: Re:

When Wiley read me this I really was upset...but I am glad to know what goes on so that I can speak up against it, if only here on Blogit.

Re:

There are no legitimate reasons for him to do what he did, Annicita! Birds of prey aren't necessarily more destructive than other birds, nor would they pose any kind of threat to people in general. If they were bothering him for any reason, there were probably more 'civilized' ways of handling it. I hope he goes away for a long time, and sets a precedent in the process . . .

Re:

That would be one way to punish him, Kabu. Another might be to give him a thousand hours of community service working in the aviary at a local zoo, caring for and cleaning up after all the birds! Or perhaps it's much better to simply put him on a small boat and send him adrift in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean! Don't worry . . . these are the types of articles I actually try to keep from my wife. No need for her to get overly upset at these things . . .

Re: JimmyA

That's it in a nutshell, Sir Wiley. This guy is mentally ill to do such a terrible thing, and something tells me we'll never know the actual reason why. Of course he compounded his despicable actions by being so cavalier at his trial! I hope he goes away for a long time . . .

Re:

It is indeed, C C T. Of course there was something mentally wrong with this individual. There's something mentally wrong with anyone who could harm or kill an innocent, helpless animal! But it makes it all the more bizarre that he was targeting just these hawks, and nothing else! He had a specific agenda against them, but his rationale still escapes me . . .

Re:

I can't be sure either, FSI. Like I wrote, if there was something specific that made this nut shoot these birds, it doesn't seem obvious or apparent to anyone! Although it wouldn't have made up for what he had done, it still would have been nice to have at least some kind of an explanation . . .

Re: Jimmy

Good question, Naut. Perhaps they were living in fear as well! Yes, there is definitely something wrong with this mentally disturbed man, what exactly I'm not sure. No, I wouldn't want to be a therapist either, for him or anyone else . . .

I don't see many legitimate reasons for doing this...if they birds bothered him so much why not move out of their flight pattern?

This broke my heart just as much as it must have broken your dear wife's heart. i wish his punishment was three years of listening to what people think or his cruel and sensless action.

Probably a phobia Jimmy it was on his mind. I don't think people realise in this situation the pain they are inflicting on their victims. It is a sad world sometimes.

I wonder why he was shooting at those hawks as well. I imagine it is one of the possibilities or a combination of said possibilities that you came up with.

Jimmy

This utterly despicable and probably 'sick' guy should be locked away for good - people like that often end up killing people as well, especially now that he's been convicted...

Actually, I'm not terribly interested in his 'sick' reasons - I might be if I were a (or his) therapist, but I'm not a therapist and I don't wanna ever be one either, LOL...

I have another 'why' though: If the neighbours were aware of this guy, why did it take them so long to put a stop to this slaughter?
