This is going to be very interesting. Note that you both are stressing that what is most important is to not use religion as an excuse to hurt.

Thank you for sharing things that are generally spoken and alleged since years to attack Islam by people who gather information from second hand sources to see if they can find any point to demean a thought a movement an idea that basically goes to overthrow irrational practices and demolish silly rites and customs that were generally prevalent those days and still continuing all over the world. I don't say I am a scholar of Islam or a perfect believer but I am just a lay Muslim trying to engage my mind to truly get into the truth of all what has happened in the past and lost amidst falsification of beliefs that still dominates more of mankind divided to control the entire world. Let me point out to the basic conflict amongs Jews Christians and Muslims who worked endlessly to degrade one another by engaging in lies and falsification of thoughts events and practices of one another since last several centuries . Prophet Mohammad has been accused of plagiarism and creating the Holy Quran and why it is so had it not attacked many irrational ideas existing then in many religious beliefs. I hope you can understand having knowledge and deep understanding of history and intellectual manifestation right from the origin of any religion to its growth decay and restoration to its original connections and faith so silently observed by Almighty Allah to see his creation debating to find truth being the light and awareness and enlightenment that we agree in all its wisdom to be God and the rest are guidelines to keep humanity safe and protected to wait till the day of judgment to see who is right and who is wrong. If we talk of killings if we talk of other crimes perptrated on humanity by different religions you will find volumes to read and analyse until you are lost in doubts and confusion to make any sense of religious crusades that have justified killing of other religious entity just on the ground of practicing a different faith. If the people were wise and able to understand the real game they would have kept away from these dacoits of ideologies who want to rob others of their wealth of learning and practices suited to their mind and emotion.

Debating does make a difference. Free speech is vital to a humanity that is healthy in love.  how can we say we cannot change anything. To say that would mean to curl up and die. A debate is not an argument but a way of people sharing their views and finding common ground as well as learning to accept other peoples views where they can. Yes let us debate, there are a million questions in my head.

I'm not much on debating, not because I can't (I'm actually pretty good at it), but because I really don't think it changes much of anything.

Well Naut...I tiptoed out so that you wouldn't notice that my brain was dead...I had used up all my serious thinking for 24 hours at Afzal's post.  Din't want to write nonsense which I am probably better at. LOL
