I love this post. I could just see you doing all of that.
It made me realize that I don't think that I have ever had an infinity scarf though I have seen them on other people. Maybe you could take a selfie of you modeling the one you made and post it here for us.

That post just brought mother home to me tonight. Flora did all that you do, knit, crochet etc. and wind balls of wool etc using my arms lots of time

wonderful, and enjoy wearing your beautiful deep purple hat. I ammaking a runner to go on the top of a book case we have put inot the spare bedroom. One curtain in the room no longer needed i am sewing and cutting into a runner. Having fun just like you.

Quality always gives pleasure Pat. It all sounds quite difficult, but I guess the technique has been passed down. Something to show for one's labor is very satisfying.

Sounds like you got a great deal for $16!
Yarn like that at the yarn store would be twice that price!
Then there is quiviut... a small hank of that is around $100. It is musk ox fur. I found out about that when I helped with inventory at the yarn store.
Now and then at a yard sale or thrift store, there will be an old alpaca sweater. Alpaca unravels with wonderful ease, and one sweater can turn into several big balls of useable yarn.

I love to crochet.
I usually do it in winter months when it's cold. I'm afraid those months will come early this year.
