It seems as if you had a nice vacation
We all need time to just be with ourselves and do whatever we want.

I do not know if you read books by Wilbur Smith, but I do. He tells the reader all about the arab slave trade in ' A Falcon Flies ' enough to very much enlighten this reader about the nasty business of trading in human misery and suffering. I have had to put the book down. But here you are blogging about. People need to know the truth. Thanks again Naut.....

Sounds like you're having a wonderful, and learned, time! I'm always fascinated with any aspect of world history, since much of the true nature of it was probably only discovered recently ( in historical measurements ). And I don't think I've ever heard before of a ship committing suicide, but that sounds like what the first Bluenose did . . .

I would love more stories of your time away. i find all travellers tales interesting. and yes, I have read much of the history that is know of what they used to call the darh continent and on all sides to me it seems to be one of violence, of slave trade, of death and disease and geniside. the atrocities practiced today have been happening for ever...such as cutting off the breasts of a feeding mother so that her baby dies of starvation.....nice!!!!

What an interesting post--lots of things to look for on the internet. Actually, I stopped in the middle of reading the post and went and looked up the original Bluenose Schooner. But theres a bunch of stuff here that I've put on my look up list.

A lot of information here Naut. You really suss things out. It is fascinating when one gets absorbed into these histories. Men who go out to discover or have gone out, must have have or had a terrific compelling reason to do so.
