Re: Jimmy
We wish Riki would do something similar, Naut! Sometimes we do hear her crying near a particular area, but it usually ends up being a false lead. Yes, Riki is strictly an indoor cat ( like all of our cats ), and I'm glad. Not only are there too many potential dangers out there, but if she were carrying those balls to the backyard, they would indeed be lost forever! Maybe we can 'borrow' Bennie someday to track them all down . . .

I take it Riki is strictly an indoor cat! If she were allowed out, she might have lost them in your backyard, but if that's impossible, I can only say that she knows your house better than you do...Bennie plays with a variety of balls in the house, and if one rolls under a piece of furniture where he can't get at it, he'll call one of us, points at it (he's a Pointer, after all, LOL) and asks us to retrieve it...

Re: JimmyA
Thanks, Sir Wiley. I do my best. And I have been following your recent home maintenance accounts, so I do understand what you and Kabu and Mr. Graysome have been up against lately! Cats seem to like their 'routes' as much as they like their routines. When furniture is rearranged or walls are sealed up, they do get upset! I'd be worried if I were you! If he can't get to those supposed mice, he may take his frustrations out on you two! Sleep with one eye open . . .

Re:
We're trying, Kabu, we're trying! Yes, she did lose at least one ball behind the fridge, but we retrieved that, so know 'behind the fridge' is usually on our search route! And you're absolutely right . . . the fact that she has ( to date ) only retrieved that pink one deepens the mystery! We hope she's not simply storing them someplace, just to drive us nuts! You know cats sometimes . . .

Re:
Don't get your knickers in a bunch over it, C C T! They'll turn up eventually! She could have a pocket, but the odds are against it. And I hope she's not swallowing them! After all, they're basically sponges, and her paunch is large enough already . . .

Re:
I have a feeling, FSI, that almost everyone has that one item that they continuously lose. I say almost because, believe it or not, I very, very rarely lose anything! And my wife and I are hoping that, someday, we move a particular piece of furniture and find a stock pile of these soccer balls! I'll let ya know . . .

I am always amazed thinking of the effort you invest in writing the most human life stories that are first class. Being an old grouch I shall pay more attention to Mr. Graysome, even as he is hoping to tear out a wall installed after this latest home maintenance fiasco, he is convinced mice live there and I cut him off. LOL

I am glad that Riki found the pink nerf ball. You have me wondering where that and the other nerf balls were at...With me, pens disappear in my house.
