I am so glad that you have no problems with his ex. I was always able to include the ex. in my extended family and this years when my last husbands first wife died I ...well I am still grieving. we were close.

We all try to deny the inevitable when dementia is suspected . I do know a man who said his wife is happy in that condition, I wish such drugs had been available 15 years ago. It is traumatic to care for someone who does not realize that they are acting violently. You must be a good person to hold no grievance. It is not the way things usually work out.

I like the idea that divorced folks can get along separately and do what's
good for the kids, with at least a semblance of the love they once shared. That exes can ask their replacements to attend, and officiate, is hen's tooth rare.
Sending best vibes and prayers for courageous understanding for those dealing with the cruelty of dementia. Doing the kind thing isn't easy.
