It is all or nothing, too many at once, but the neighbours like them. Thank you Justi for the cooking advice.

Re: Re: Re: Kabu
You could make toffee keep boiling the jam. I found that out the hard way.

Wonderful post. I love that beautiful flower. Sorry about Archie s health. Yes the pears can be frozen, canned as they are or make pear butter or jam. Wish I could help you with them. Little far to be neighborly. Have a great day and take care of the leg!

Re: Re: Kabu
I used to make jam but we don't eat enough to bother and have no one here really to share it with.

Re: That is one of the loveliest flowers ever!
Chrysanthemum Ciel, I have some growing in a tunnel but most are so tall and have not shown buds. The pears fall on ground where the birds peck around, I pulled a lot off when they were small, but as you know too many on a tree is not good. I think Archie's three freezers are nearly full, he wanted to put one upstairs, but the Missus was not happy about that.

Re:
Been to your site Jimmy it's OK pretty simple if one remembers the secret. Yes I thought you might know about it, but we are never prepared for such a change, we breathe air as though we own the life giving substance.

Re Naut
I thought you would know about it Naut. I suppose it could happen anytime. Memory is so short and no one ever hands it down like they might have done in the past, I'll try and fall over only once a week.

H'm she is a lovely girl, but thankfully I can now withstand that dizzy feeling that the young men on bloggit feel. Pears are nice stewed if one does it before they are ripe. We used to have some trees and the pears on those would keep to Christmas and were pink when stewed.

Re: Kabu
Minor wounds Kabu, It does appear that folk like home made jam etc. You see the common jam makers now put more water in the jam, so I read and one has to keep it in the fridge whereas the old stuff comes out with big glistening fruits and keeps for donks.

Well her mother did offer to put some blackberries in her freezer for me. You see we still have last years. You must know the old saying. 'Don't mess on your own doorstep'.

Re: Taps
No charge today Taps have a freebie. I nearly did not make it I was using software instead of typing and after about 350 words I said the road will be cut off. The darn software must have thought I meant cut what had been written and a blank page glared at me.

His wife could make a pear cobbler thingy and sell them. or a pear upside down cake. I am sure that home made anything will sell these days because it is only the oldies who really know how to cook.
Glad everyone is feeling better, altho. stubbing your toe and hurting your leg is not good.

I don't know about pear jam, but I love blackberry jelly. Pears are
kind of delicate once they ripen. I hope all of you feel perfectly well and that one of you returns the lady's dish. Might be nice to make a pear compote and return it in the dish.

Yeah, I remember those eruptions, especially the one 1883 - what a bang! It was so big, Simon Winchester wrote a book about it, Krakatoa: The Day the World Exploded, quite good, actually...I'm glad Arthur is feeling better...And you should stop falling over...

It sounds as though both Archie and Arthur could benefit from eating some of those blackberries as well! It couldn't hurt. And I do believe I may have read about those historical geographical occurances at some point in my life. They were used as references as to what the end result of several nuclear blasts might look like and do to the entire planet! Scary stuff! How is the new 'emoticon system' working out? . . .
