I enjoy history a lot, but I know I am no historian.  I definitely can see how "much of history is a succession of unintended consequences".   No matter how well planned, things just don't necessarily turn out the way one might think they are going to.

I am a History Buff...so I hope that you don't think that I see all of today's problems as a cause of history well yes some is...and yes somethings we could learn from History if we tried  and somethings are just humans repeating the same mistakes that have happened to humans throughout history.

I am watching too this creeping Ebola outbreak, not that it cannot be contained ut really waiting for an outbreak of illness that cannot be contained ...something that Humans would write of as they did the Plague.

The plague in England particularly changed the social order of people forever. Oh i could write e thesis on this...LOL but I stop.

Did I love this Post????LOL Yes!!!!

You are exactly right that we do not fully understand the time we are in and that most of the "Big Events" were really the result of chains of events.
