CCT..sounds like the summer I spent at army cadet camp..
Rather than wait for a washing machine (60 of us) I filled the sinks with hot water and detergent and scrubbed the clothes up by hand.

Well when one thinks what a half wash we used to give clothes in a big bowl or a dip in the river I don't think it matter a great deal, but gentle is best.
