When my sons were teenagers, we would watch the Blues Brothers, the Shaw Shank Redemtion and Clint Eastwood and others too often late at night, so that we knew the words off by heart. LOL...and all the songs. Spielberg himself even made an appearance in the B. Brothers. They were good times with my boys.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re:

To tell you the truth, Kabu, there have been many remakes over the years ( including, believe it or not, a Blues Brothers remake called The Blues Brothers 2000 with John Goodman taking over John Belushi's role! Needless to say . . . horrible! ). I've yet to see one that was as good ( and definitely not better ) than the original! I was going to say, why do they even bother?, but I already know the answer: Hollywood is out of ideas, and has resorted to doing these terrible remakes. No, of course they shouldn't bother doing a Ghost Busters remake, because we know it will be horrible. But that probably won't stop these clowns . . .

Re: Re: Re: Re:

I saw where they are remaking Ghost busters or thinking of it....now that is really sad ...and what if they redid The Blues Bros....or Gone with the Wind or From here to eternity or god forbid....Jailhouse Rock.

Re: JimmyA

I understand completely, Sir Wiley. Overall, it does paint a gruesome-looking scene, doesn't it? And I guess you'll just have to ask Kabu to make you up a fresh batch of cookies . . .

Re:

I agree, Annicita. We have to assume of course that some scientific benefit will come out of this. But with all of the medical advancements made over the past half century or so, it remains to be seen what this will actually accomplish! And of course, those poor mice . . .

After tossing my cookies I moved on to real mice.

Re: Re: Re:

Absolutely not! That's one of the few movies that they had better not even dare to produce a remake! No matter which actors, actresses or directors they employ, it would be like redoing the Mona Lisa as a paint-by-number! Why bother . . . ?

Re: Re:

Re: Jimmy

Did I hear a 'rim shot' with that one, Naut? And I must say I find it difficult to believe that anything could actually 'live' in a pocket! But, he must have been pretty special! Jerome was just not good enough for him, eh?

Re:

I too recall doing certain dissections in school, Kabu, but mostly on frogs. And I must say, not only did I not care for it, but I don't honestly recall actually learning anything either! And hey, Claude Rains was an excellent actor, regardless of the roles he was given, and he didn't always play 'the bad man!' I've always loved his performance as Inspector Renault in the film Casablanca . . .

Re:

Thanks, FSI. I never assume everyone will know what a certain reference means, so I explain them when I deem it necessary. When H.G. Wells first wrote "The Invisible Man" in 1897, I seriously doubt he had visions of things like this taking place one day! Amazing indeed . . .

Re: JimmyA

I suppose they can, Bill, although I think they might be able to find more interesting plots to produce! Transparent mice? Pheh! . . .

I once had a mouse that lived in my pocket for a while, his name was Hieronymus. But he disappeared one day...

claude rains was a great nasty man in the movies ....I hated the bad man when I was little LOL...As for the science fiction mice and rats, sounds disgusting but I must confess that at University I disected all the rats in my group. They were too delicate to touch a dead lab rat but not yours truly>>>>

It is amazing what we are finding with science. I did not know these studies were going on...I can see that happening one day, the big excape and all....I like the tie-in to Rains as well.
