Re: Pat
No Pat but nice to be a bit scared. I loved those little streams alas most have disappeared
due to land draining. Now a larger type of crayfish has taken over in places and I think one is encouraged to net them, but I'll let it pass.

Re: FS
Well you not being a persistent gardener I assume the plants have acclimatised to your rather gentle attention. They squeak here if it does not rain. That's a nice jumping expression.

Re: CCT

They were a bit hot blooded Naut, Italians . They made the best fish and chips ever invented I would think. I wonder if they were boiled in beef fat, the old chap would never tell the secret. Boys were not very bright.

Re: Jimmy
No he brought me a walking stick and a lovely little slasher for knocking stinging nettles down. I have put the stick on standby I really would like a staff. Anyway I think I have finished carrying twenty gallons in each hand which Arthur said strengthened the bones when one was younger.

Re: Kabu
You should see the poor old boy he can hardly stagger around and he is years younger than I am. I do know my limitations Kabu , a bit of physical pain is not too bad it warns one not to be silly.

Re: cct
I know Jean I had to bury a dead mouse so I picked it up with some long pincers that old folk use to retrieve their false teeth when they fall out. I dare not tell Arthur he does not like killing anything.

CCT..my daughter is plaged with lower back problems, too...
I think it runs in the family - my mom had them and my sisters have them now..once one gets them be it from an awkward twist or heredity, its hard to get rid of...

So with a bad back you go and help a neighbor. i mean it is good to be a neighbor and all but you are going to be really ill if you don't take it easy. Stop and smell the roses in your garden and let Archie pick his own flowers.

Boy, you have just got to take it easy! If you keep reinjuring your sides, you're never going to be able to cut anything ever again! So, you never gave the answer. Did Archie want that kick up the ass . . . ?

You guys were asking the fish-and-chips lady for tuppence worth of rotten fish? That's hilarious! No wonder she chased you out! One would hope there weren't any other customers in her shop - in a small town it would spread like wildfire that she was selling 'rotten fish'...

We used to dangle twigs for crayfish "crawdads" to get them to
latch on. Or poke near them to get them to flash backward along the creek bottom. Along the edges it wasn't more than ankle deep, clear as crystal, with lots of round stones and only a bit of mud in the really shallow edges. Sometimes there'd be deer tracks and maybe coyote which we always told each other were wolf. Now I realize wolves run in packs and there'd have been many many and never just the one or two...
